I thought we have a covalent bond but no we are ionic

Something happened today that makes me sad to the 6.02 x 10/23. I can't stop thinking about it. I thought we are a covalent bond, sharing our electrons because we want to be a diatomic molecule. I was wrong or maybe I had known this all along. Instead now I could conclude that we are ionic, we have no choice but to attract each other cause different charges attract.
